Which stores does GopherCart compare?
Grocery stores that publish weekly flyers or prices near you: national supermarket chains, discount grocers, warehouse clubs, pharmacies with grocery aisles, and regional chains. Only stores within your chosen distance are compared.
Which provinces are covered?
GopherCart works Canada-wide, in every province and territory where stores publish flyers. Coverage is deepest in larger towns and cities; smaller communities may have fewer stores listed.
How are prices gathered?
We collect prices from publicly available weekly flyers and store listings, refresh them as new flyers come out, and remove sale prices once they expire. Shoppers can also report a price that looks wrong.
Is GopherCart free?
Yes. Building a list, comparing stores, and seeing flyer deals are free. The site is supported by ads.
What does premium include?
Right now there is no paid plan: every feature, including saved lists, list sharing, and price alerts, is available to everyone at no cost. If we ever introduce premium extras, the core price comparison will stay free.
How accurate are the prices?
Prices come straight from store flyers and listings and show their valid dates, but stores can change prices, run out of stock, or price differently in store. Always check the shelf price at checkout.
What does 'price per gram' mean?
Package sizes differ between stores, so we convert every product to a common unit (per 100 g, per 100 mL, or per item). That way a smaller package isn't mistaken for a better deal.
Do I need an account?
No. You can build a list and compare stores right away. Create a free account only if you want to save your list or retrieve it on another device.
Why do you need my postal code?
To find the stores near you. We only use it to choose which stores to compare and never share it.
How far away will it look for stores?
You choose a distance between 15 and 100 km. A larger distance includes more stores; a smaller one keeps your recommendation close to home.
Why is a store missing an item?
Some stores don't carry every product, or we haven't seen it in their flyer or listings. GopherCart tells you which items the recommended store doesn't carry.
Is GopherCart available in French?
Yes. Use the language button at the top of any page to switch between English and French.
