How GopherCart works
One grocery list, priced at every store near you, so you know which single store gives you the lowest total.
1. Enter your postal code
Tell us where you shop. GopherCart finds the grocery stores within the distance you choose, anywhere from 15 to 100 km. Only real, open stores near you are compared.
2. Build your list
Search for items or browse the aisles. Add milk, bread, chicken, cereal, whatever you buy. You can pick a specific brand or let GopherCart choose the best value, including store brands.
3. We price your whole list at each store
For every nearby store, GopherCart looks up the current regular price and any sale price from this week's flyer, then adds up your whole basket.
4. Compared fairly: price per gram
Package sizes differ from store to store, so comparing sticker prices can mislead you. A 750 g box of cereal for $4.99 looks cheaper than a 1 kg box for $5.99, but it isn't:
- $4.99 ÷ 750 g = about $0.67 per 100 g
- $5.99 ÷ 1,000 g = about $0.60 per 100 g
GopherCart converts every product to a common unit (per 100 g, per 100 mL, or per item) and compares those. Your basket total is then based on the amount you actually want, so a store with smaller packages isn't made to look artificially cheap.
5. Get your recommended store
We name the store with the lowest total for your list and explain why: how much you save compared to the next store, which items are on sale, and which items that store doesn't carry. Prices come with their flyer dates so you know how long a deal lasts.
